Real Madrid easily beat CSKA Moscow 4-1 at the Bernabeu Stadium in a game decided by the better quality of the Merengues football who didn’t even have to play too hard to beat their Russian opponents. Higuain, Ronaldo (2) and Benzema scored for the Spanish team.
Real Madrid maintains alive the dream of reaching its tenth European title tonight and securing the passage to the quarter finals of the Champions League.
The 1-1 tie in the first leg had been a tough punishment for Real Madrid. In Moscow, the Merengues showed total superiority over CSKA. Today, this difference in value was even more evident in front of their home crowd with a 4-1 rout.

Jose Mourinho’s team spent most of the match with only 10 players, as defender Sergio Ramos was sent off after just 20 minutes because of a hard foul on Brazilian striker Diego Costa.

Leading with a goal by Cristiano Ronado, Real Madrid appeared to have the game in the bag, but a last minute goal on Tuesday allowed CSKA Moscow to grab a draw (1-1) in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League.
CSKA were hoping that the cold weather and the unfamiliar artificial pitch would give them an advantage over José Mourinho’s team that had 27 wins in their last 30 games. In fact the Russian team started the game well when Alan Dazgoev’s shot went just wide after a cross from Georgi Schennikov.
Real Madrid continued to have some difficulties and Mourinho was forced to make a change in the team, bringing in Higuain to replace Karim Benzema who injured himself in the right thigh.

Cristiano Ronaldo headed Real’s first goal after just six minutes after an excellent assistance from Brazilian international Kaká. It was Ronaldo’s 28th goal of the season, five more than his main rival and World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi of Barça.

Real Madrid received Levante at the Bernabeu Stadium, beating them 4-2, on the 23rd round of the Spanish League football with another “hat-trick” by Cristiano Ronaldo, extending their lead over FC Barcelona to 10 points.
Ronaldo’s third goal was a beauty when his shot from outside the area made the ball take an unusual path, climbing and descending very steeply before entering the goal. It was goal number 4000 by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in official competitions.
Real Madrid took advantage of yesterday’s slip by Barcelona, who traveled to Pamplona and losing their game against Osasuna 3-2, thereby increasing their lead over the Catalans and getting one step closer to winning their first Spanish Championship since 2008.
