Cristiano Ronaldo struggles to pass Barcelona's defense
Barcelona made a stunning turn-around even though Real Madrid could not have wished for a better start for their “El Clasico” with the Catalans as they scored first with just 20 seconds on the clock, a record between both teams. Ajax goal wrongly disallowed against Real Madrid
Real Madrid traveled to the Amsterdam Arena and beat the Dutch champions Ajax by 3-0, equaling their club record of 15 consecutive wins in their last game of the Champions League and ending as the Group D winners with 18 points.
It was a night to forget for Ajax who did not deserve to lose the game by these numbers, thanks to some bad calls by the trio of referees headed by Jorge Sousa of Portugal, who disallowed two good goals by Ajax.
To make matters worse, Ajax were relegated to 3rd place in the group after Lyon surprised everyone with their stunning 7-1 away win against Dinamo Zagreb and ended 2nd in the group plus a spot in the last 16. This epic turnaround gave Lyon a better goal average than Ajax who will now play in the Europa League. A very unlucky night for Ajax.
